Overview
This programme is based on the assumption that learners have completed the National Certificate that forms the first year for the Diploma. Sufficient time is provided between the study schools to support flexibility, access and learner-directed learning. Candidates can enrol for any one study school at a time and do the others at a time that is convenient for them or can enrol for the full two year programme. This programme has been structured to promote flexibility and career path progression allowing candidates to choose between four required areas of specialisation. After completion of this programme, delegates will be able to enroll for the B-Tech degree.
Study School 1: Basic Literacy
Basic literacy, focussing on the importance of language and communication strategies used in vocational and occupational learning, is of utmost importance. It integrates with all the other unit standards covered in this programme.
Study School 2: Interpersonal Skills
Teamwork and the ability to harness diversity are essential qualities for any Practitioner. Interpersonal skills become evident in the way information is transferred verbally and in writing. This study school also equips the learners with a basic knowledge on how to manage a project team.
Study School 3: Productivity
This study school focuses on the improvement of productivity taking into consideration the factors that influence productivity in the workplace.
Study School 4: Skills Development SDF
This study school is especially beneficial to Practicioners who want to develop the Skills Development Facilitator skills. After this study school, learners will be able to register as a Skills Development Facilitator.
Study School 5: Unit Standards and Qualifications
Quality is the backbone of any education system. This study school focuses on the development of quality unit standards and qualifications for assessment, education, training and development purposes. Understanding how Unit Standards and Qualifications are designed will help learners to interpret them more accurately.
Study School 6: Evaluation, Conflict and Recruitment
Quality is the backbone of any education system. This study school focuses on the development of quality unit standards and qualifications for assessment, education, training and development purposes. Understanding how Unit Standards and Qualifications are designed will help learners to interpret them more accurately.
Study School 7: Moderation
This study school focuses on evaluating the quality of assessments conducted through the moderation processes.
Who should attend?
The diploma course is intended for HR and ETD Practitioners across a variety of workplace environments.
Entry Requirements:
- A minimum of two years of experience in an ETD environment
- NCERT in OD ETD Practitioner NQF 5
- Numeracy & Literacy on NQF 4
Recognition of Prior Learning:
Candidates can also apply for RPL for any individual unit standards that have been achieved that forms part of the diploma course.
Assessment and certification:
Learners are expected to submit their portfolios as entry requirement for the next study school. Portfolios will be assessed, moderated and verified by the SETA before a diploma will be issued.
A National Diploma: OD ETD Practices – NQF level 5 – 257 credits – NLRD 50333 will be presented to the learners who have achieved the required level of competence. This Diploma qualifies you to enrol for a B-Tech Degree in HRD.
